American Theatre Company and Theatre Pops to Merge
Tulsa, OK — American Theatre Company and Theatre Pops, Inc. have entered into a partnership to consolidate into one theatre company. The companies will operate under American Theatre Company’s title beginning June 1, 2018.
“Our missions are similar and we decided both companies and Tulsa would benefit from us joining forces,” said ATC Board President Jerry Nutt. “We realized there was no need to continue competing for resources and audiences, as we have essentially the same goals.”
“Theatre Pops and American Theatre Company have been working closely the last few years and we have developed a mutual desire to provide Tulsa with the best theatrical experience possible,” said Angela McLaughlin, Theatre Pops President. “If we can reach new levels of artistic and professional achievements together, we believe we have an obligation to the Tulsa community to work together towards that goal.”
The combined 2018-19 season will feature Shakespeare in Love, Heisenberg, and Lungs in August, Circle Mirror Transformation in November, A Christmas Carol and Songs for a New World in December, Sunday in the Park with George in February, and Denim Doves in April.
The merger will take up to a year to complete. During this time, the Board of Directors will be working together to build a strong foundation for the new entity to better serve the community.
