Meet Theatre Pops
Theatre Pops was established in 1989 by David Valla and Tom Schoenenberger as a group specializing in British sex farces. They continued until 1991, when Mr. Valla left for Los Angeles and gave the company to Ken Spence and Randall Whalen. Their first production was “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” at the Philbrook.
Theatre Pops is an original member of SummerStage Tulsa. We focus on telling good, contemporary stories that an audience can relate to and shows with a strong message.
Some of our productions have included shows by David Mamet, Edward Albee, and Jane Martin. We have produced “Bash: Latter Day Plays” by Neil LaBute, “Man From Nebraska” by Tulsa’s own Tracy Letts, “Dinner With Friends” by Donald Margulies, “Other People’s Money” by Jerry Sterner, “Eye of God” by Tulsa’s own Tim Blake Nelson, amongst many, many others.
We will continue to challenge ourselves, focus on the story, and bring excellent theatre to Tulsa for years to come!
