Heather Sams – Secretary & Actress
Randy has graciously allowed me to do several shows with Theatre Pops over the years and I enjoyed them so much that I wanted to get involved behind the scenes, as well. I’m a newbie council member and help out with administrative and organizational duties. Seeing the production side of theatre has been a very eye-opening and interesting experience, and I look forward to learning even more.
Thanks to an encounter with an errant wild potato in middle school (long story), theatre became a part of my life. I’ve always been very shy, so, at first glance, it wouldn’t seem that theatre would be something that would hold any appeal. But (as pretentious as it may sound) being onstage and immersing myself in being someone else, doing things that I would otherwise never do, getting feedback from the audience, is exhilarating and liberating. I’m so thankful to the directors and groups that I’ve worked with over the years who have had faith in me and given me the opportunities to do what I love. I’ve had the privilege to work with a lot of amazing people and be involved with wonderful shows. Some of my favorites have been with Theatre Pops, and that is why they are my “home” theatre.
Huge thanks and appreciation go out to my husband, Dale, who tricked me (long story) into once again getting involved in theatre after a long absence, and for his care and support and for putting up with my crazy rehearsal schedules. Hugs and kisses to my beautiful kids, Shana, Brando, and Wyatt, who can always make me smile and give the very best hugs on the face of the planet. I love you all!
Finally, I want to thank Randy for giving me the chance to become an integral part of Theatre Pops. We’ve been working hard and have some wonderful things lined up and I can’t wait to see them come to fruition. I love this group and plan on doing everything I can to help us reach our goal of producing excellent theatre in Tulsa, for the community and by the community. Let’s get some butts in those seats, people!
